How to make a hoodie mockup
- Add your artwork. Load a transparent PNG for the front and, if you have one, a second file for the back. SVG and WebP open too.
- Choose the garment. Pick pullover or zip-up, regular or oversized, and the fleece colour that matches the blank you actually stock.
- Position the print. Use Centre chest for a statement graphic or Left chest for a small embroidered-style logo. Print width and Move down fine-tune it against the pocket.
- Frame and export. Pick the Hero, Front or Back camera, set a background, and download PNG (transparent) or JPG at up to 4000 px.
Hoodie print areas at a glance
Hoodies have less usable front space than T-shirts because the pocket and the hood crossover take up room. These are typical sizes for an adult MโL; check your printer's template for exact limits.
| Placement | Typical print size | In this tool |
|---|---|---|
| Left chest logo | 3โ4 in (8โ10 cm) wide | Left chest |
| Centre front, pullover | 10โ12 in wide, ending above the pocket | Centre chest, 45โ60% |
| Centre front, zip-up | Usually avoided: the zip splits the design | Use left chest instead |
| Full back | 12โ14 in (30โ35 cm) wide, starting 3โ4 in below the hood seam | Back print |
| Sleeve text | 2โ3 in tall, running down the arm | Not yet supported |
For crisp results, prepare artwork at 300 DPI at the final print size: a 12-inch-wide back print is 3600 px. The mockup itself looks sharp from about 1500 px.
Fleece, colour and print method
- Fleece softens fine detail. Brushed cotton-poly fleece is thicker and fuzzier than T-shirt jersey. Hairline strokes and tiny text often blur or crack in screen printing, so keep lines at least 1 mm thick.
- Heather grey shows sweat and shading less than black, and is the most popular blank for a reason: most colour palettes read well on it.
- Embroidery suits small logos. A stitched left-chest mark looks premium on heavy fleece; large embroidered areas get stiff and heavy, so print the big back graphic instead.
- Dark hoodies need an underbase. On black, navy and forest green, light colours need a white base layer to stay bright. Expect real prints to look slightly less vivid than the render.
Pullover or zip-up?
Pullovers give you an uninterrupted front, which is why fan merch, college fests and band hoodies are almost always pullovers. Zip-ups read as more outdoorsy or corporate: they work well for team kits and company uniforms, where a small chest logo on the front and a large mark on the back is the norm. If you are unsure, mock up both: the same artwork can look very different once the zip runs through it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show a print on the back of the hoodie?
Yes. Add a file under "Back print" and press the Back camera button. The hood stands up behind the neck, so the back print sits a little lower than on a T-shirt, just as it would on a real hoodie.
What is the difference between the pullover and zip-up styles?
The pullover has a single kangaroo pocket across the front. The zip-up has a metal centre zip and two separate hand pockets. Large centre prints are usually split by the zip on real garments, so most zip-up designs use a left-chest logo plus a full back print.
Why does my front print look cut off by the pocket?
On a real pullover the pocket is sewn over the lower front, so prints that run too low get interrupted by its edge. Make the print narrower, raise it with Move down at 0, or keep the important parts above the pocket line.
Can I hide the drawcords?
Yes. Set Drawcords to Hide. Many brands photograph hoodies without cords, and some kids' hoodies are sold without them for safety reasons.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your artwork is read and rendered in your own browser with WebGL and never sent to our server.
Can I use these hoodie mockups to sell products?
Yes. The images carry no watermark and are free for commercial use, provided you own the rights to the artwork you place on them.
