Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no signup, login or email form anywhere on the site. Open a tool and start.

Which browsers are supported?

Any recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Samsung Internet or Opera with WebGL turned on. If the preview area shows an error, update the browser or enable hardware acceleration in its settings.

Can I install 3D Mockups as an app?

Yes. On Android and desktop Chrome or Edge, use "Install app" in the footer or the install icon in the address bar. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen.

Does it work without internet?

After you have opened a tool once, it is saved on your device and keeps working offline, including uploads and downloads.

Privacy & ownership

Where does my image go when I upload it?

Nowhere. "Upload" here means your browser opens the file from your own storage and draws it with your graphics chip. No copy is sent to 3dmockups.in or any other server.

Is it safe for client work under an NDA?

Yes. Because nothing is transmitted, unreleased covers, logos and packaging stay on your machine. Closing the tab clears them from memory.

Who owns the mockup images I download?

You do, subject to the rights in the artwork you used. We claim no licence over your designs or the renders.

Do I have to credit 3dmockups.in?

No credit is required. A link back is always appreciated but never expected.

Files & quality

What image formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP and SVG. For logos and apparel prints, a PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest edges.

How large should my image be?

At least 1500 px on the longest side for a sharp 2400 px export, and 2500 px or more if you plan to export at 4000 px. Very large files are scaled down automatically to what your graphics card supports.

Why do colours look slightly different from my design file?

The 3D scene is lit, so surfaces facing away from the light are a little darker, as in a real photo. Screens also show RGB colour; CMYK print files can look duller once converted. Compare against a printed proof for final colour decisions.

My artwork has a white box around it. How do I fix that?

Export it again as a PNG with transparency. The logo tool can also knock out a plain white background automatically.

Exporting

What is the difference between the three export sizes?

1200 px suits quick sharing and chat apps, 2400 px suits websites and social media, and 4000 px suits print and marketplace images that customers zoom into.

Why is the download a square?

Square images work everywhere: store listings, Instagram, WhatsApp catalogues and slides. Place the transparent PNG on any canvas size in your design app to change the shape.

The 4000 px download is slow on my phone. Is that normal?

Large renders need more graphics memory. Older phones can take a few seconds; a "Rendering…" message shows while it works. Choose 2400 px if speed matters more.

Can I export a video or a turntable animation?

Not yet. Every tool exports still images today. Animated exports are on our list.

Using the tools

How do I get the same angle across several mockups?

Use the preset angle buttons rather than dragging. Presets put the camera in exactly the same position every time, so a set of mockups lines up.

Can I put two objects in one image, like a book and a phone?

Not inside one scene yet. Export each as a transparent PNG and arrange them together in Canva, Figma or Photoshop.

Are the phone and laptop models real brands?

No. They are generic, logo-free designs so you can use them in ads without trademark concerns.

Can I request a new mockup type?

Yes. Send a request through our contact page with the object and where you will use it. Requests decide what we build next.

Troubleshooting

The preview is blank or shows an error.

WebGL is unavailable. Turn on hardware acceleration in your browser settings, update the browser, or try another one. Some battery saver modes also switch it off.

Nothing happens when I click Download.

Check that your browser allows downloads from the site, and on iPhone look in the Files app under Downloads. If a render fails, try a smaller size.

The page looks out of date after an update.

The site is cached for offline use. Close all its tabs and reopen it, or pull to refresh, to load the newest version.

Still stuck?

Send the tool name, your browser and device, and a screenshot of the problem through our contact page. Please use a sample image rather than confidential artwork.
